lYN R. Covert

A member of the Department of Veterans Affairs Speech Pathology Hall of Fame and a Fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, Lyn Covert was a speech-language pathologist for 30 years.   Born in Lexington, Kentucky she received a Ph.D from the University of Kentucky.  Currently she lives in Richmond, Kentucky where she enjoys reading and writing.

After retirement, Dr. Covert turned her attention to writing historical fiction.  Echoes of a Mother’s Heart is her first publication.

Set in the 1920s in Lexington Kentucky, Mae is an eleven-year-old girl whose mother died leaving her with an alcoholic father who can’t care for his 5 daughters still living at home. The sisters are divided among older married siblings. Mae is sent to live with a sister in Cincinnati who makes and sells homebrew. Mae must sell the homebrew to men out of their apartment. She is forced to leave the safety and security of her home and is thrust into a world where she learns to protect herself.
